Individuals can contribute up to $1,450.82 to an election campaign for a candidate. Since Candidate is now running as an independent conservative candidate, if you previously gave to support his campaign, whatever you donated to him prior to this independent campaign does not count within this limit and you are free to donate up to the maximum allowed.
The tax credit you receive is calculated this way:
- 75% of contributions up to $100
- 50% of contributions between $100 and $550
- 33% of contributions between $550 and $1150
The maximum annual tax credit is $500.
You can donate if you are:
- an individual resident of British Columbia
- Canadian citizen or permanent resident
- not a corporation
